Durham Central Park, a nonprofit community organization founded by concerned citizens, is working in all of these areas – and more! Through a successful partnership with the City of Durham, we are creating a unique community landmark that will have far-reaching impacts. We’ve already accomplished much – we’ve reclaimed green space by demolishing buildings and parking lots; created a lovely garden in memory of former Durham resident Grace Richardson; constructed a nature trail with help from student volunteers; built a new sense of pride among residents and businesses in the area; and planned a comprehensive project for creek restoration and storm-water treatment.
The coming year will bring many exciting developments
in the park, including picnic tables and benches to welcome families and friends to Durham Central Park. Please support our efforts by becoming a Friend of the Park. This membership program includes different levels to fit different-sized bank accounts.
In return for your donation, you will receive regular
delivery of our newsletters, notification of Park programs, and
one or more colorful imprinted items that will identify you as someone
who cares about the community. You will also receive the
